Bring the 在留カード for everyone who moved. Several wards will make you return a second time without it.

Service hours are from 9:00 to 16:30 on weekdays. In addition, procedures for moving in from abroad for foreign nationals are accepted only at 墨田区役所（本庁） (Sumida City Office Main Building) (excluding branch offices). 取り扱いは、平日の9時から16時30分までとなります。また、外国籍の方の国外からの転入の手続は墨田区役所（本庁）のみの受付です（出張所を除く。）。

Registering a marriage in Sumida (墨田区)

At the 区役所1階の夜間休日受付（宿直） (Night and Holiday Reception Desk [Duty Room] on the 1st Floor of the Ward Office), receiving birth notifications (出生届), death notifications (死亡届), marriage notifications (婚姻届), etc., as well as issuing cremation permits (火葬許可証), is handled outside office hours (including non-business days such as Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, and year-end/New Year holidays). For family register notification forms (戸籍届書) received outside office hours, the staff in charge will review and verify the contents on the next business day. If there are any omissions or missing entries on the form, we will call the notifying person (届出人), so please be sure to fill in your phone number. The official acceptance date will be retroactive to the date of submission. 区役所1階の夜間休日受付（宿直）では、出生届、死亡届、婚姻届などのお預かり及び火葬許可証の発行を時間外（土、日、祝日及び年末年始などの閉庁日を含む。）に行っています。時間外に受領した戸籍届書は、翌開庁日に担当で内容の確認を行います。届書に記入漏れなどがあった場合には、届出人の方にお電話いたしますので、必ず電話番号を記入してください。受理日は届出日に遡ります。

Worth knowing when registering a marriage

For marriage with a foreign national, please make an inquiry in advance or have your notification form, attached documents, etc., checked at the counter beforehand. 外国籍の方との婚姻については、事前にお問合せ又は事前に届書、添付書類等の確認を窓口で受けるようにしてください。
You will need to wait until the examination of your notification documents is completed, so please come to the office with plenty of time to spare. Please note in advance that waiting times will be even longer for notifications involving foreign nationals or when submitting multiple notifications at the same time. 届書類の審査が終わるまでお待ちいただきますので、時間に余裕をもってご来庁ください。なお、外国籍の方との届出や同時に複数の届出をされる場合などは、待ち時間が更に長くなりますので、あらかじめご了承ください。
